Just finished reading Secrets of the Fire Sea

Maybe a spoiler if you haven't read the Secrets of the Fire Sea

And I just want to say - wow!

It's very difficult to decide, but I think that in some ways it might be the best finale of any of the Jackalien books yet. It certainly seemed to me to mix the epic with the personal in the best proportions to create a final battle which struck the right chords. Plus I think the commadore is becoming one of the Jackalien novels strongest characters, perhaps even starting to look like a hero despite however much he much hate being called that.

Within the final chapters there's been plenty to fire my imagination - especially how the defences of the central chamber of Jago might have been constructed... If only I had enough hours in the day! I'll get time to do a proper render of them some day.

Glad you like.

The hardback seems to be doing quite well in the Amazon.co.uk charts at the moment - for a hardback, anyhow... you usually have to wait until the paperback comes out for it to go big guns.

My wife reckons it's one of my best books, but then she should do, she's my wife!
