The Forever War
« on: August 26, 2010, 03:11:06 AM »
Hi guys,

I just finished reading The Forever War by Joe Haldeman and thought it was great. I see that there are also two follow up books written in the 90s and I was just wondering if anyone here has read them - are they worth it?

Thanks,

Vinx

To me they suffered in comparison. You might be better off trying other Haldeman books not in that series.

He's done some really good ones: Camouflage, The Accidental Time Machine, All My Sins Remembered and Old Twentieth

Those are well-worth reading over the rest of the Free series, in my experience

Thanks ppw, I'll be sure to keep an eye out for the ones you suggest. Sequels are so often disappointing, and I'm especially wary of ones written such a long time after the original. It would be a shame to taint my enjoyment of the first one with below average follow ups!
