Hey to everyone. Any old fans of the TV series Babylon 5 here on the boards?

I loved that series more than any other.

One of my favourites too although I haven't thought of the program for a long time.

Now that I look back on it, the Tolkienesque ambition of its plot arc becomes a lot more evident as I think on it.

Hello and yes, got the whole series on DVD.  Loved the 5 year story arc - very ambitious and expertly pulled off IMO.  :)

Yes, I was a big fan of Babylon 5 too.

I agree that it took time to grow on you - you needed to get into the plot arc to really appreciate it (I thought it was a little bitty to start with, before it got going).

Surprised I missed this one. The subject, not Babylon 5.

What as significant about the series was proving that not all SF TV was Star Trek.

The first season was really to establish all the various sub-plots and alliances before Straczynski turned a lot of it on its head making the Narns more heroic and the Centauri the bad guys. Even the position of the Vorlons was played down until season 4.

For Season One, 'Parliament Of Dreams' has to be my idea of the perfect episode with multiple twists.

What surprises me about Babylon 5 is that its not being re-run on any of the UK cable channels. It would make a welcome change to all the various flavours of Star Treck that keep getting shown.

I wonder if the studio is asking to much...

Hello Andy

I think its probably more to do with continuity and multiple repeats. Even UK channels are a little nervous about that or why else isn't The X-Files not being shown neither.
